The love of a father
It was time to write the entrance examination into the university. The education system works this way in my country: the student has to go to a designated campus to write the entrance examination.
So, I had to travel out of my town to another to write the entrance examination. My dad decided to go with me, he feels it is safer if he goes with me. He couldn’t bear to see his wife and daughter leave home. No.
So, we started out and embarked on the journey. It was approximately an hour drive. When we arrived, we lodged in a hotel for the night. The hotel room had just one bed frame(with a mattress definitely).
My dad was on the chair all through the night while I laid on the bed. He said I deserve the comfort of a bed that night because the next day was going to be a stressful one for me— The love of a father.
At the break of day, I got out of bed to revise for the examination. So my dad had the bed to himself.
Before I started revising, I prayed to God and asked Him to direct me to what part of the question and answer to focus on.
I was through with the text books and decided to go through past questions. I revised the past questions till it was time to go into the examination hall.
Father’s Advise and Attention
On our way to the examination hall, my dad advised me to read the instructions carefully, if I did not understand any instruction, I should ask the exam officers, that I should calm down and all.
Remembering what my dad did, makes me love him more. Despite the fact that he was ‘’old’’, he traveled down with me. I was like the David of the family.
I was the 7th child of the family so I didn’t get the attention of my father while growing up. He was more about the older ones.
Also, my quiet personality made it easy for friends of the family and neighbors not to notice me.
His choice of going with me to the examination venue, giving me the bed while he sat on the chair all through the night and advising me on how to compose myself for the exam was and is a big deal to me.
It was one of the very few moments we had together as father and daughter. I cherish that moment a lot.
The love and attention of a father in his daughter’s life.
So, I enjoyed the love and attention of two fathers on this day; the first was from my biological father and the second was from my Heavenly Father.
YES! My Heavenly Father God.
He answered my prayer, he directed me.
The examination questions were exactly what I revised before leaving the hotel room that morning. Yes, they were exactly the questions I revised. Word for word.
I was surprised, better said, I was shocked to my bones.
Vital Lessons from this experience
I learnt a vital lesson that day: God answers prayer (the prayer, heart desire of a little girl) and He is mindful of me.
Of course I passed the exam and was offered admission into the university, Obafemi Awolowo University and the journey into destiny began.
God is mindful of you, if He is your Lord and savior.
Are you wondering: how do I accept the Lordship of Jesus Christ?
Say this prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I confess with my mouth that you are Lord and I believe in my heart that you died for me and God raised you from the dead. I ask that you forgive my sin. Come into my heart and reign in Jesus name. AMEN.”
God answers prayer.1 John 5:14
